Anabelle Paetsch
Pianist
Anabelle is a versatile, accomplished and creative musician and teacher who has been based in the Vancouver area since 2003. She has performed numerous concerts not only in BC but also in Saskatchewan, Ontario, Austria, Germany and the U.S. Annabelle enjoys collaborating with symphony orchestras, choirs, singers and instrumentalists of all ages as well as playing solo recitals. She is well known in West Vancouver as a regular performer at the Silk Purse Arts Centre, and as an organizer of and participant in benefit concerts and musical fundraising events. She has adjudicated piano classes, recorded two solo CDs, taught music at the university level, and worked as a musical extra in the film industry. Her graduate degrees in music are from Western University, London ON, and Annabelle also holds a Diploma in Piano Performance from the Haydn Conservatory in Eisenstadt, Austria. Currently she is Director of Music at St. Stephen’s Anglican Church in West Vancouver and maintains a busy piano studio in addition to freelance playing.
Dorothea Hayley
Soprano
Praised for her “very personal creative power” (Badener Zeitung) and “amazing coloratura skills” (Opera Canada), soprano Dorothea has been a soloist with the Vancouver Symphony, the Bourgas Symphony, the Allegra Chamber Orchestra and Capriccio Basel. She has performed in festivals such as Sonic Boom, the Happening Festival, Gulangyu Piano Festival, Performer’s Voice Symposium, New York City Electroacoustic Music Festival, and the Atempo Festival of Caracas, and with organizations like the SMCQ, Chants Libres, CIRMMT, Codes d’accès, Vancouver New Music, the Little Chamber Music Series That Could, and the Land’s End Ensemble. She is a member of the Erato Ensemble, the Broadwood Duo, and the Hayley-Laufer Duo. Dorothea pursued vocal studies at McGill University, the University of British Columbia, and the Universität für Musik und darstellende Kunst Wien. She holds a Doctor of Music degree from Université de Montréal. She currently teaches at Vancouver Community College. Melanie Adams
Mezzo-soprano
Melanie Adams is a prominent member of Vancouver’s music community as a solo and ensemble performer and as a teacher. As a soloist, her repertoire ranges from early music to world premieres of new music by prominent Canadian composers. She has collaborated with many musical and theatrical organizations, including the Pacific Baroque Orchestra, the Vancouver Island Symphony, Fugue Theatre, Redshift Musical Society, Vancouver Pro Musica and The Opera Project. Melanie is also very well-known as a long-time member of Vancouver’s musica intima, with whom she has toured extensively in Canada and the United States, as well as France and Ireland. Since 2012, she has been a member of the Vancouver Cantata Singers and the Erato Ensemble. Teaching is also a very important facet of Melanie’s career, and she owns and operates an active and thriving studio from her New Westminster home. melanieadams.musicteachershelper.com.
