CEO Dr. Jasper Lament
Jasper Lament joined The Nature Trust of BC as its Chief Executive Officer in 2012. He oversees an active land acquisition and conservation plan to protect, restore, and manage vulnerable habitats in British Columbia. The Nature Trust’s portfolio of more than 500 conservation areas covers 180,000 acres (73,000 hectares) with a focus on Vancouver Island, the Lower Mainland, the South Okanagan and the Kootenays.
Born and raised in Vancouver, Dr. Lament brings a lifelong love of wildlife and two decades of biology, conservation and non-profit experience to his role leading The Nature Trust of BC’s successful conservation efforts. He holds a Bachelor of Science (Honours) in Biology and Geography from Queen’s University and a PhD in Biology from the University of Miami, Florida.
Prior to joining The Nature Trust of BC, he was Senior Environmental Coordinator at BC Hydro and Conservation Program Manager at Ducks Unlimited’s national headquarters in Memphis, Tennessee. He also managed coastal wetland restoration projects in California and served for five years on the staff of the North American Wetlands Conservation Council.
Dr. Lament enjoys spending time exploring the outdoors with his wife and young children.
